T'ai Chi

T’ai Chi Ch’uan is an ancient marital art challenging your body, mind, and inner energy. During this class taught by a ranked member of the International Yan Style T’ai Chi Chu’uan Association, you’ll learn to enhance your coordination, mental concentration, deep breathing, relaxation of the body, and inner energy flow.

 

T'ai Chi Post Grad Program

Participants that have completed all three levels are eligible to sign up for this program. You will receive a punch card good for 8 classes to use at any class level.

Beginner Ballroom Dance

Waltz your way into this ballroom dancing class, and you’re sure to learn the skills, steps, and attitude that will have you dancing with the stars! An exciting, fun-filled, and challenging way to build confidence and poise, this class is also great exercise and a great stress reliever while affording you the opportunity to meet many new and interesting people. No partner necessary!

Taltree Photography Club

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens Valparaiso Parks joins in partnership with Taltree Photography Club. The club is a place where novice and expert photographers meet to share shutterbug tips and tricks. This is a non-competitive club; all are welcome.

Meyer Pavilion in Taltree Arboretum
(Taltree is located at 450 West 100 North)

First Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m

The first meeting is complimentary

$10/year for Taltree members and $40/year for non-members

Raingarden Workshop

Raingardens are nature's way of filtering chemicals, road salts, detergents, and fertilizers from storm water and run-off before the water enters our lakes and ponds. Park horticulturists will discuss how to build a raingarden, what plants are best to install, and what maintenance is necessary to keep it thriving. Workshop includes a Power Point presentation, Q & A, and a visit to the raingarden located at the park.

Grape Vine Workshop

No sour grapes here! Park horticulturists will share trade secrets for growing, pruning and maintaining grape arbors to produce this tasty fruit! The presentation will include a Power Point presentation and Q & A.

Gentle Yoga

Connect your mind and body with the beautiful outdoors by practicing yoga with Lori Estadt from Asana Yoga Center at the city parks this summer. In a one hour class we will practice traditional yoga poses at an easy and gentle pace to give participants awareness of their mind and body. This class is great for all skill levels and ages. Whether you have never tried yoga but are curious or practice regularly and want to enjoy a new class to learn more, we want you to come and join us.

Join us for a special free yoga class to see how you like it on Saturday, June 19 at Rogers-Lakewood Park at the Discovery Shelter from 8:30-9:30am.
