Forest Park
Forest Park Picnic Area is a 10 acre park with two shelters,
and one of the most popular leisure sites in the City; it is located just off Harrison
Blvd., West of Campbell Street. On the extreme west end of the park is an open play
area suitable for ballgames, frisbee, volleyball or just plain relaxing in the sun.
Near the Rotary Shelter is a newly refurbished playground, one of our systems largest.
Just a short walk to the east will bring you to Ogden Gardens and it’s unique floral
displays, gazebo, memorial gardens, trees and shrubs.
The "In Town" Picnic Shelter - Beta (below, left)
has open sides and large enough to accommodate 100 persons. Open space around this
shelter allows for volleyball or other games.
Restrooms are located within approximately 50 yards away in a separate restroom building. The reservation fee of $60 (or $50
resident discount fee) can be paid by cash, check or credit card and made in person
or by phone at the Park Administrative Office. Shelter fees are non-refundable and
are due in full when the reservation is made. Click here

The Rotary Shelter (above, right) will accommodate
over 100 people and is located "on top of the hill" surrounded by large trees which
offer welcome shade. This shelter is unique as there is a large room inside that
contains a sink (cold running water) and a table. The room has wood "windows" which,
when opened, provide the ability to create serving areas, if desired. Approximately
50 yards from the shelter, on a paved pathway, is the restroom building.
The reservation fee of $70 (or $60 resident discount fee) can be paid by cash, check or credit card
and made in person or by phone at the Park Administrative Office. Shelter fees are
non-refundable and are due in full when the reservation is made.
Your
shelter reservation ensures a clean, safe facility protected from extreme heat and
rain. Ten picnic tables are provided for your private use; additional picnic
tables can be reserved (4 for $40 + tax). All shelters are equipped with 20 amp
electrical service. A "half barrel" grill can be rented for $15 plus tax. Recycle
bags are provided as well as garbage receptacles. Volleyball standards are available
at each park for use by all park visitors. Moonwalks, dunktanks, tents, canopies
and amplified music are prohibited.
